La Clínica Monument entered the Monument Valley district of Pleasant Hill as a result of the demand for health care services for low-income families in the area. Many families were forced to either take long public transportation routes across town or simply go without medical care. As a result, La Clínica Monument opened in 2003. Today, La Clínica is a significant primary care option alongside Contra Costa Health Services for uninsured and underserved residents.
