HIV/AIDS Community Education
In 1971, La Clínica was born from a movement to create social change to improve the health of underserved communities. This tradition continues to burn brightly in La Clínica's Community Health Education (Casa CHE) section. Casa CHE programs provide people the tools to actively participate in and take responsibility for their own education, while promoting the idea that the community is capable of creating positive social change. Casa CHE's TRUCHA (Together Reaching Users Combating HIV and AIDS) program is a major provider of HIV education to underserved populations throughout Oakland. La Clínica's Street Outreach Workers and Health Educators provide AIDS/HIV education and presentations, harm reduction interventions, risk reduction counseling, and free and confidential HIV testing. Our goal is to prevent the further spread of HIV and ensure a high quality of life for those living with HIV. Program areas include:

Jornaleros (Day Laborer) Outreach Working in collaboration with the Street Level Clinic, TRUCHA staff provides individual counseling and care management to high risk day laborers, whom otherwise would have minimal access to care. The ALMAS program is a part of the Family Care Network run by Children’s Hospital in Oakland. |
